At Life’s AMRAP we are about providing you with our unbiased opinion on new products that enter the market. Recently, we got our hands on some Formula O2, the newest recovery drink. Formula O2 defines recovery as:
“Recovery /riˈkəvərē/ , (n). a return to a natural state of health, mind, or strength.”
We decided that there would be no better time to perform some recovery on our body than after The Open workout 15.2. So we cracked open the Grapefruit Ginger Formula O2 and gave it a whirl. Both Katie and I were pleasantly surprised by the smooth, refreshing taste of the grapefruit and ginger mixed. We both immediately looked at each other and said, “this tastes like ginger ale but without the carbonation.” We are both huge ginger ale fans and in particular I am not a fan of carbonation. Lucky, for me unlike other sports recovery drinks like Kill Cliff and FitAID, Formula O2 is not carbonated and has an extra 4 ounces. WIN! WIN! Formula O2 currently comes in two flavors, 1) Orange Mango and 2) Grapefruit Ginger. Although, the Grapefruit Ginger is our favorite we also love the Orange Mango as it has a light mango taste without the acidity of Orange Juice.
Formula O2 is based upon three main ingredients:
Comparing Nutritional Information for Formula O2, Kill Cliff and FitAID
The one question we had for Formula O2 was why not include bcaas and all the vitamins and minerals that Kill Cliff and FitAID both include. Their response was that you are already eating a balanced diet, so you are getting what you need from your food. They did not want to add in the unnecessary so that you can just pee it out (They also included a quote that said “Americans have the most expensive pee in the world” and it’s true!).
So from the nutritional information we can see a close race between all the brands. Each has their own unique flavor making them all taste good.
Why choose Formula O2:
We have had both Kill Cliff and FitAID and have nothing bad to say about them, however if you are looking for a product for recovery and energy utilizing natural ingredients - look no further. Both the Orange Mango and Grapefruit Ginger are sure to not disappoint.
Ultimately, the choice is yours but we challenge you to taste the difference and see what you are missing. Our advice to you is don’t sleep on Formula O2. Before you know it, it will become a household name and you don’t want to be the last one to get your hands on it. Currently it is sold out online, but it should be back in stock next week!
